Azrayen' Gesamtausgabe #[nn]
This comprehensive edition collects the complete run of the Franco-Belgian fantasy series 'Azrayen'', originally serialized in multiple albums. The story follows a young orphan girl with mysterious powers in a richly detailed medieval-inspired world, blending adventure with themes of destiny and identity. Created by writer Jean-Luc Istin and artist Stéphane Bileau, this Gesamtausgabe gathers all previously published chapters into a single volume for German-speaking readers.
A 2018 installment in the Azrayen' Gesamtausgabe series, this issue features the story "Teil 1" with writing by Frank Giroud and Eckart Sackmann, and art by Lax, who also handled inking and coloring. The cover was created by Lax, who provided both pencils and inks.
In "Teil 1," Captain Valera leads a search through the rugged terrain of Kabylie, tracking the elusive lieutenant Francis Messonnier. As he questions locals and confronts the quiet resistance of the region, he turns to Taklhit, the village schoolteacher and lover of the troubled officer, who reluctantly reveals the deep psychological toll of Messonnier’s past—specifically, the trauma following the deaths of workers accused of FLN sympathies.
In "Teil 2," Captain Valera and his men push deep into the Aurès, hunting for Meissonnier and his missing section. As tensions rise and old fears take hold, the weight of suspicion begins to fracture their unity, pushing Valera toward a choice that will test the limits of command and conscience.
