The cover of Azrael #43 (July 1998) crackles with urgency — Azrael streaks forward in his fiery costume, eyes burning with intensity, while a rugged, bearded figure in purple clutches a fistful of arrows beside him, the two surrounded by a barrage of spears and projectiles flying in from every direction. Roger Robinson and James Pascoe's cover composition gives the whole scene a dizzying, almost free-fall energy that makes "Deadly Homecoming!" feel like exactly the right tagline. Dennis O'Neil's "Homecoming" storyline promises the kind of tense, mythology-rooted drama this series does so well.
