Azimut #5
The fifth and final volume of Lupano and Andreae's Azimut arrives with a cover that immerses you in the series' distinctive steampunk grandeur — a flame-haired, orange-clad figure strides purposefully through a vast lattice of gears, pipes, and mechanical scaffolding, while a pale, wide-eyed companion looks on and an airship glides through the hazy distance above. Andreae's painterly artwork is in full bloom here, layering richly detailed machinery with warmly luminous characters in a way that feels both intricate and alive. Subtitled Les Derniers Frimas de l'Hiver ("The Last Frosts of Winter"), this 2019 Vents d'Ouest conclusion promises a satisfying close to one of French comics' most visually inventive adventures.
