From Image Comics in 2016, Axcend — taglined "The World Revolves Around You" — delivers a striking cover featuring a figure in a sharp dark suit and white gloves, wearing a robotic canine helmet, standing before what appears to be the White House while missiles rain down around a blood-red curtain backdrop. The "Dog" name badge and eerie calm of the pose make for a genuinely unsettling collision of corporate civility and mechanical menace. Shane Davis's pencils and Michelle Delecki's inks give the whole scene a crisp, charged energy that's hard to look away from.
