The title says it all — AVNI stands for Animal Vraiment Non Identifié (Truly Unidentified Animal), and right away that sunny yellow cover sets a warm, playful tone. Center stage is a cheerful little blue creature with oversized round ears and a striped shirt, surrounded by a wonderfully varied cast: a green turtle, a waving wolf in glasses, a dog, a flamingo, a panda, a fox, and what appears to be a crocodile hat-wearing character, all rendered in Vincent Caut's charming, rounded style. Writer Romain Pujol and illustrator Vincent Caut launched this BD Kids series in 2014 with a premise that's both simple and genuinely delightful — what happens when nobody can quite figure out what kind of animal you are?
