Subtitled "The Agony of the Agent," this September 1993 entry in the Avengers West Coast series opens with a cover by David Ross and Tim Dzon that puts you right in the thick of a brutal brawl — a battered, bloodied figure in the foreground struggles while a massive, snarling blue powerhouse looms overhead with fists raised, flanked by additional threatening figures closing in from all sides. The orange-hot background and worm's-eye perspective make the danger feel immediate and inescapable. Roy Thomas scripts the interior story "Dying To Get Out," promising that whoever this besieged agent is, their situation is every bit as dire as that cover suggests.
