Avengers: The Origin #4
Phil Noto's cover for issue four of this five-part 2010 limited series places Thor at the heart of a surreal, overwhelming siege — the God of Thunder charges forward with fists crackling with energy while a mass of monstrous, alien-looking creatures swarms around and above him. The sheer scale of the threat is palpable, with hulking limbs reaching in from the foreground and horned figures closing in from the sides, making this one of the more visually striking entries in the Avengers: The Origin run. With Joe Casey and Phil Noto steering the story into its penultimate chapter, "Rumble Fish" looks to deliver the kind of full-throttle superhero confrontation that makes assembling these issues genuinely satisfying.
