Avengers Prime #4

The penultimate chapter of this five-issue Marvel limited series brings together three of the Avengers' biggest names — Captain America (shield in hand, sword raised), Iron Man (in his armor, wielding what appears to be a makeshift staff), and a brooding Thor crouched atop a pile of skulls — all set against an eerie green-lit backdrop that promises high stakes. Alan Davis and Mark Farmer's cover composition is striking, positioning the trio as battered but unbroken warriors on the edge of something momentous. With Bendis scripting and Rodríguez's vivid colors tying it all together, this 2011 series remains a compelling showcase of Marvel's finest talent working in sync.
