When Sheriff Oscar travels to the big city for a sheriffs' convention, he falls prey to a pair of confidence men who swindle him out of his money and horse by selling him the city river. Back in Dry Gulch, Billy the Kid realizes Oscar is in trouble and races back to town just in time to catch the same two con artists trying to pull off another scheme. Together, Billy and Oscar face off against the swindlers and set things right—but not before Oscar gets a valuable lesson in staying alert.
