Atom-Age Combat #2

During the third week of a stalemate atomic war, the enemy launches a sneak attack, but the nuclear-powered submarine Polaris and its crew intercept several missiles through their warning net. When an enemy agent is discovered aboard the Polaris, the crew must conduct a fast shakedown cruise to test their operational readiness, and soldiers are equipped with nuclear-powered electronic watches for precise synchronization in combat. In a parallel story, Squad A conducts a field exercise where soldiers must locate their objective; Sergeant Sarge Johnston successfully leads his men through the test and earns their respect, passing the trial that determines whether he will continue as their leader.
