Athena #1
Dynamite Entertainment launched this Greek mythology series in 2009 with a hauntingly atmospheric opener — Paul Renaud's cover depicts a young woman lying unconscious on the ground, a spear and decorated shield nearby, while a massive bearded figure looms from the night sky above ancient hilltop ruins, and a watchful owl perches in the bare branches overhead. The moody blue-green palette and mythic imagery set a tone that feels both ancient and immediate, promising something more grounded and dramatic than a typical gods-and-heroes adventure. With Doug Murray writing and Fabiano Neves contributing art alongside Renaud, "Book One" looks like a serious, visually striking take on the world of Athena.
