Asterix Mundart #17
This volume collects the Alemannic dialect translation of 'Asterix and the Soothsayer' (originally published as 'Le Devin'), the 17th entry in the Asterix Mundart series. In this story, a smooth-talking soothsayer named Prolix (Da Woasoga) arrives in the Gaulish village and begins manipulating the superstitious villagers, much to the skepticism of Asterix and Obelix. The translation brings the classic adventure to life in a regional German dialect, maintaining the humor and wordplay of the original while adapting it for a specific linguistic audience.
Asterix Mundart #17, published in 1998 by Egmont Ehapa, features the familiar cast of Asterix, Automatix, Baba, Brutus, Claudius Handcus, Dreifuß, Gaius Ausgus, and Gutemine in a story titled "Da Woasoga," continuing the adventures of the indomitable Gaulish warrior and his companions. Created by René Goscinny and brought to life with distinctive art by Albert Uderzo, the issue showcases Uderzo’s signature style in both interior and cover work, including his own inking and coloring.
