Margaretta loves music, but her father refuses to let her take singing classes. The new tenant is a young opera composer and when he hears her singing his music, he personally instructs her and convinces her father to let her sing in public. Margaretta falls for him, but he gets his big chance and leaves for Milan. He arranges for a friend of his to continue Margaretta's singing lessons after he leaves and she becomes a successful singer touring Europe.
