Arsène Lupin - Les origines #1
This first volume of the origins series explores the early life of Arsène Lupin, the gentleman thief, before he became the legendary figure known in Maurice Leblanc's classic stories. Set in 19th-century France, the narrative follows a young Lupin as he navigates a world of mystery and intrigue, with the disappearance of key characters setting the stage for his transformation. The collection is published by Rue de Sèvres as part of their graphic novel adaptation of the character's backstory.
"Les Disparus" introduces a young Arsène Lupin with striking mismatched eyes, imprisoned in the children's penal colony of Haute-Boulogne on Belle-Île-en-Mer. Resourceful and defiant, his sharp instincts catch the eye of the Count Perceval de la Manche, who sees a haunting resemblance to his long-lost son and offers him a chance at a new life. Written by Maurice Leblanc and Benoît Abtey, with art by Christophe Gaultier and coloring by Marie Galopin, this 2014 origin tale from Rue de Sèvres sets the stage for a story of identity and hidden destinies, with a cover by Christophe Gaultier.
