An American soldier goes A.W.O.L. and ends up in a German-occupied French chateau that harbors a resistance operation hidden in the depths of the wine cellars. After killing a couple of German soldiers who discover him, the American is sentenced to be executed at dawn, but the resistance finds a way to use him to further a surprise attack by the Allies.
