Army War Heroes #19 is an anthology containing at least two stories. "Mama's Boy" follows a soldier caught between loyalty to a comrade and his love for a woman from West Virginia, culminating in a confrontation where the rival soldier is killed in combat. A second story depicts a German pilot named Judel involved in an aerial dogfight; after being shot down and captured, he is taken prisoner by his enemy, ending the conflict between them as both men recognize the futility of their struggle.

Two Wars at Once
8 pp · War

A young replacement soldier finds himself assigned to a heavy machine gun position manned by two sergeants locked in a bitter feud—until a Communist mortar attack forces them to fight side by side. When the narrator overhears their rivalry stems from a woman named Sue Sykes back in Tokyo, he devises a risky plan to end their fighting before it gets them all killed.

One Man Must Die
6 pp · War

Two veteran pilots—a Nazi Focke-Wulf ace with 74 kills and American Captain Jack Witlaw—collide in the skies over Berlin on November 12, 1944, each convinced one of them won't survive the encounter. What neither expects is to discover that the German pilot has far more to fear from his own government than from enemy fire, and that choice—not skill—may determine who walks away. A tense aerial duel becomes something far more human when survival means more than victory.

Hitler's Sour Victory
3 pp · War

During the Nazi occupation of Europe, Hitler's war machine seems unstoppable—yet the Führer finds no peace, knowing his enemies' resistance burns on in hidden places. When sabotage strikes even the most protected Nazi targets, and an underground operative strikes down a high-ranking officer, the tide of terror begins to turn against the occupiers themselves. This 1967 war story reveals how courage in the shadows can shake even the mightiest empire.

Mama's Boy
8 pp · War

P.F.C. Tommy Ludden lied about his age to enlist, and now he's struggling with paralyzing fear under fire 500 yards west of Ste. Maude—until Corporal Jake Nucarino's quick thinking and steady leadership begin to pull him through. As the battle intensifies and Tommy faces his first real combat, he discovers that the scared kid behind his mother's skirts might have more grit than he ever knew, pushing him toward becoming the soldier he needs to be.
