Issue two of this 2003 DC miniseries plunges deeper into the dread atmosphere that makes Arkham Asylum: Living Hell so compelling. Eric Powell's painted cover captures the chaos inside the asylum walls with remarkable intensity — a wide-eyed inmate in blue scrubs scrambles in terror above a mass of grasping, contorted figures, while a second frightened man in the foreground stares outward as if pleading for escape.
