Volume 13 of Masato Hisa's Area 51 delivers another striking cover from Casterman, showing a young girl in a school uniform pointing defiantly while a massive, dark winged creature looms behind her — the contrast between her small determined figure and the enormous shadowy beast makes for an instantly arresting image. The bold green background and stark black-and-white rendering give the whole composition a raw, unsettling energy that fans of Hisa's supernatural manga will find right at home. If you've been following this series through 2017, volume 13 looks every bit as wild and compelling as the journey so far.
