“And Now a Word From Our Monsters....”

A grocery store trip goes gloriously sideways in Archie's Weird Mysteries #15, as the cover by Fernando Ruiz and Rich Koslowski shows Archie and a friend reacting in wide-eyed alarm to a very animated, mustachioed "L'il Chef" mascot brandishing a sauce bottle — while living product mascots, including a bear character, crowd in from the shelves all around them. The shopping cart overflowing with branded goods and the speech bubble quipping "I've heard of product endorsement, but this is ridiculous!" perfectly sets the tone for the kind of cheerfully absurd humor this 2001 series delivers. If you enjoy Archie's Riverdale gang tangling with the wonderfully strange, this issue looks like a delightful stop.
