Archie's Pals 'n' Gals #210

The whole Riverdale gang has taken on a deliciously ambitious challenge — tackling the world's largest sundae at what appears to be a Riverdale Mall event — and the cover by Dan DeCarlo and Jim DeCarlo captures the gleeful chaos perfectly, from the enormous ice cream mountain in the center to the crowd of enthusiastic teens digging in around it. Archie himself looks considerably less triumphant in the foreground, clutching his stomach alongside a sympathetic friend as the reality of "the world's largest stomachaches" sets in. It's a wonderfully funny snapshot of small-town big ideas, and at 95 cents this 1989 issue of Archie's Pals 'n' Gals delivers exactly the kind of warm, lighthearted fun the series does so well.
