Archie's Joke Book Magazine #191
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeA diner scene has never been this delightfully thrifty — the cover of this December 1973 issue shows Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead seated at a soda fountain booth, ordering extravagant treats like a Super Sundae and a Royal Split, only for Archie to sheepishly change the order to "three lime fizzes" in the panel below, where a "Help Fight Inflation" sign sits pointedly on the counter. It's a perfectly timed two-panel gag that captures the era's economic anxieties with the light, good-natured humor Archie's Laugh-Out Joke Book Magazine always delivered so well. With a cover price of just 20 cents, this one clearly practiced what it preached.
