“Signal Success”

In "Signal Success," Betty lends her heart to Archie—literally, when she wears Veronica’s borrowed brooch, unaware it’s secretly rigged to transmit a signal. With Veronica’s usual mix of friendship and mischief, the brooch sends out a beacon that leads her on a wild chase when it’s snatched by a curious hound and blown into the woods. Dan DeCarlo’s expressive art brings the playful tension to life, while Bob White’s cover captures the moment the signal goes live.

When Betty dates Archie, Veronica loans her a brooch to wear. With Veronica's usual ulterior motive, the borrowed brooch transmits a radio signal so that Veronica can keep an eye on the pair. When a cape with the brooch blows out of Archie's jalopy and is grabbed by a playful hound, Veronica has to follow the signal through some less-than-desirable places.
