Aquaman: Futures End #1

Part of DC's sweeping 2014 "The New 52: Futures End" one-shot event, this issue imagines a startling possible tomorrow for the King of the Seas. The cover by Yvel Guichet and Jason Gorder tells a striking story all on its own: Mera stands commanding and defiant, trident in hand and crown on her brow, while a chained Aquaman kneels at her feet amid the ruins of what appears to be an underwater throne — the swirling ocean itself framing the tension between them.
