“As the Seas Die”

In "As the Seas Die," Aquaman faces a terrifying new threat as a mysterious green slime spreads from Lake Erie toward Detroit. Investigating with his old ally Don Powers—once the vigilante known as the Crusader, now blind but still determined to fight crime—Aquaman uncovers a shocking connection to a satellite meant to prevent crime, but which may be the source of the spreading menace. Written by Steve Skeates and illustrated with gritty precision by Jim Aparo, this story blends urban mystery with aquatic dread, while Nick Cardy’s striking cover captures the tension of a city on the brink.

A green slime coming out of Lake Erie threatens to overrun Detroit. Aquaman visits an old friend, Don Powers, owner of Powers Investigations, an investigation firm helping Detroit police fight crime. Powers' firm is also responsible for a satellite meant to stop crime but is also the cause of the slime. Powers is the Crusader, though losing his eyesight, he wants to continue fighting crime using the satellite. On a last patrol, Crusader dies from a fall from a building due to his deteriorating eyesight. Aquaman discovers his death, then breaks into Powers' business and destroys the satellite
