Aquaman #8
This volume collects issues #43-47 of the 2017 Aquaman series, continuing the storyline from the 'Drowned Earth' crossover. Arthur Curry faces new threats both on land and at sea as he struggles to balance his duties as king of Atlantis with his life on the surface, while a mysterious darkness from the ocean depths emerges. The collection features writer Kelly Sue DeConnick and artist Robson Rocha, delving into Aquaman's mythological roots and his role as a bridge between two worlds.
In "Rising to the Surface," Aquaman and his allies—Mera, Tula, Garth, and Murk—step out of the depths for the first time in years, attending the Amnesty Bay Sea Festival to better understand life on the surface. As Arthur shares his vision of Atlantis joining the world above, a mysterious creature that emerges from water begins terrorizing the coastal town, leaving the heroes on edge. Written by Dan Abnett and illustrated by Vicente Cifuentes with inks by John Dell, Juan Castro, and Cifuentes, and colored by Guy Major, this issue brings a grounded yet thrilling look at Aquaman’s growing role beyond the ocean. The cover by Brad Walker, Brett Booth, Drew Hennessy, and Norm Rapmund captures the tension beneath the festival’s festive surface.
