Aquaman #10
The "Eco-Wars" storyline reaches its conclusion here, and Vince Giarrano's cover delivers a genuinely unsettling image: Aquaman, long blonde hair fanning out around him, is submerged and straining upward — mouth open, his body wrapped in massive mechanical claws that drag him down while churning water and chaos erupt at the surface above. The jarring cover blurb — Drowning?! — raises a question that feels all the more pointed given that this is a man who calls the ocean home. Written by Shaun McLaughlin with art by Vince Giarrano, this 1992 issue wraps up a storyline that clearly has the King of the Seas in very deep trouble.
