When escaped convict "Scars" Mason breaks into Professor Crown's laboratory seeking a hideout, he stumbles upon the chemist's secret formula for transmuting lead into gold—and becomes determined to force the Professor into making him wealthy. Danny Blake, the Commissioner's son and the Professor's young assistant, must find a way to stop Mason before the criminal can exploit the formula's power, all while his father races to recapture one of the most dangerous criminals at large.
