Sharpe and Sheriff Conrad investigate the apparent suicide of a jilted groom. While investigating they find the dead body of his very pregnant bride-to-be buried in a storage building. Sharpe climbs into the hole with the dead woman's body to investigate further. He appears to fall through the ground and communicate with odd floating lights. Sheriff Conrad says he saw nothing, and thought Sharpe was having a seizure. Sharpe and Conrad go to see medical examiner/mortician Roller, the dead woman's parents are there also, and they say that 3 weeks earlier their daughter was not pregnant.
