From DC's cheerful funny-animal series comes Animal Antics #11 (1947), a 52-page ten-cent treat featuring the Raccoon Kids in full strongman mode. Otto Feuer's cover captures one young raccoon overhead-pressing a massive barbell loaded with 500-pound plates while perched atop a wall, as another hustles below painting a carnival-style sign advertising "The Raccoon Kids — Strongest Men on Earth." The whole scene — scattered weights, a gas cylinder, a paint bucket, and that wonderfully deadpan "Opens To-Morrow" announcement — makes for a warm, funny snapshot of classic 1940s cartoon mischief at its most endearing.
