Angel: Blood & Trenches #3

John Byrne pulls triple duty as writer, artist, and colorist on this third installment of Angel: Blood & Trenches, and his cover work makes an immediate impression — a vamped-out Angel snarls at the viewer, glowing red eyes blazing, fangs bared, while a blood-dripping blade is thrust toward him from the shadows. The moody, shadow-drenched palette gives the whole image a genuine wartime menace that suits the series' WWI setting perfectly.
