This BOOM! Studios continuation of Joss Whedon's vampire champion finds its second issue wrapped in a striking Dan Panosian cover — a moody, magenta-soaked cityscape where a lone dark figure clings to the graffiti-tagged underside of a bridge while unsuspecting pedestrians stroll along the railing above. The visual tension between the hidden supernatural world below and the oblivious human world above captures the series' core atmosphere beautifully. Inside, Bryan Edward Hill and artist Gleb Melnikov, with colors by Gabriel Cassata, carry the story forward in what's shaping up to be a compelling 2019 reinvention of the L.A. brooder.
