Andy Devine pursues train robbers who have stolen a payroll, causing them to flee and hide near a railroad before escaping on a runaway train. Andy accidentally boards the moving train and endures a chaotic ride, eventually jumping off as the vehicle derails. He then tracks the thieves to a local post office and barbershop, where he learns they are headed to Diamond Joe's ranch in the north. Andy follows them, discovers they plan to steal the ranch, and pursues them on horseback, eventually locating a lost silver mine that the outlaws had been seeking.
