Three riders on horseback charge across a dust-blown American frontier landscape, an tattered stars-and-stripes flag beneath their hooves, while an enormous supernatural figure — a woman with glowing red eyes, wild flowing hair, and large black spiders flanking her — looms ominously over the scene. Studio Hive's painted cover work blends Western atmosphere with genuine folkloric dread, and the sunset canyon backdrop gives the whole image a haunting, mythic quality. Writers Bill Schwartz and Zachary Schwartz continue this Top Cow/Image series in 2014, and if the cover is any indication, American Legends is weaving dark supernatural threat right into the fabric of the American frontier.
