Amazing Mystery Funnies #16 is an anthology featuring multiple stories. "Speed Centaur" by Malcolm Kildale follows the legendary half-man creature who has cleaned up crime in the northern city and now looks forward to a well-earned vacation, during which he and reporter Reel McCoy explore a mysterious cave and discover a large spherical object. A separate story depicts Barry and Dorgan in a rented seaplane that catches fire mid-flight; after a harrowing rescue involving flaming torches, they crash into the sea where they meet Frogga and encounter an ominous silhouetted figure emerging from the water. Another story follows Don, Dr. Lug, and their companions as they pursue Dagmar's crude map through marshland, discovering evidence of a dam construction project and pursuing tenants who appear to be draining water to flood the area.
