Alley Oop and the Art Invasion #[nn]
Something genuinely unexpected is afoot in Moo — massive, vividly painted boulders covered in swirling abstract designs, dinosaur figures, and starburst patterns have taken over the prehistoric landscape, leaving silhouetted cave-dwellers puzzling at the spectacle. Front and center, a crowned, barrel-chested ruler surveys the scene with bemused authority while a spear-carrying companion looks on, the whole tableau rendered in Dave Graue and Jack Bender's warmly expressive linework. It's a wonderfully absurd premise — Stone Age civilization meets an explosion of color and modern art sensibility — and this 2024 collection delivers it with all the cheerful wit that made Alley Oop a comic-strip staple.
