Issue five of Image's Alley Cat presents a striking visual contrast: the series' black-clad, long-haired heroine crouches low on a stone floor, her armored gloves and boots catching a dim, moody light, while behind her an elaborate stained-glass window depicts a winged, crowned saint flanked by crusader knights. Bruce Brown's painted cover work bathes the scene in deep purples and blues, lending a cathedral atmosphere that feels both reverent and dangerous. A ToyFare magazine callout badge adds a nice collectible touch to this 2000 Image release.
