The story unfolds through a time-traveler’s mission from the distant future, who intervenes in Superboy’s original rejection by the Legion, determined to ensure the Boy of Steel gets the second chance he was denied.

In "Eclipso's Amazing Ally," the dark entity Eclipso takes an unexpected turn when he constructs a robotic double to deceive Bruce Gordon—only to find himself forced to intervene when the machine turns on its creators, trapping Bruce Gordon and Professor Bennett in a deadly trap. With his own creation threatening to end them, Eclipso must step in to save the very people he sought to manipulate.
