One story features a man attempting to have his watch cleaned by a boy named Kelly, who saves money by doing the work himself. Another story involves fight promoters seeking a stooge to battle a bull, with one character's incompetence at boxing leading to comedic chaos. A third story follows Mr. Cues, a genius who repeatedly disturbs his neighbors with absurd late-night schemes and requests, including a flooded cabin and a 5 a.m. breakfast demand. The issue concludes with a comedic tale of a superhero rabbit character who crashes a theater performance and is thrown out by the audience.
Kelly and little Pockets arrive in the desolate Skull Valley to help Uncle Gopher, who's been sending desperate pleas for aid—but they soon discover that shady land dealers Bludge and Sludge are behind the relentless cyclones tormenting the valley, using the storms to force ranchers to sell their property cheap. With Uncle Gopher's truth-telling bird dog Fearless at their side, Kelly and Pockets investigate the crooks' operation and uncover what the land dealers really want from Skull Valley.
