All Funny Comics #8

This fall 1945 DC humor anthology delivers 52 pages of comedy for a dime, and Stan Kaye's cover sets the tone perfectly — a hapless fellow named Oxie has been hurled headfirst out a window, landing with a resounding "BONK!" while a alarmed blonde girl (Bunny) and a puzzled boy (Penniless) react with equal parts horror and deadpan logic, a little black cat watching the chaos nearby. The gag dialogue practically writes itself: landing on his head, after all, shouldn't hurt him one bit. With interior work by writer Ken Fitch and artist Thurston Harper, All Funny Comics #8 is a cheerful snapshot of wartime humor comics at their most gleefully silly.
