Aliens: Stronghold #1

Dark Horse kicks off this four-part series with a cover by Doug Mahnke that immediately establishes the tension: a heavily armored figure charges forward through a nightmarish tangle of Xenomorph bodies, with a snarling Alien looming close behind, all rendered in Mahnke's richly detailed, visceral linework. The chaos of chitin, claws, and acidic yellows and greens makes it clear that humanity's grip on any "stronghold" is tenuous at best. Writer John Arcudi and artist Mahnke look to be a strong pairing for this 1994 miniseries.
