The ship carrying Flash, Zarkov and Dale is hit by a magneto-ray, forcing the occupants to bail out into the "Sea of Mystery". Eventually, all three are captured and turned into water breathers to survive under the sea. They escape and use Lord Triton as a hostage to negotiate. Undina agrees to let Flash and his friends go free if he will help her fight in her war against Ming. Flash helps defeat Ming and, after her marriage to Triton, a grateful Undina restores their air-breathing lungs and sets them free.
