鳥山明○作劇場 [Akira Toriyama Marusaku Gekijō] #2
This second volume of Akira Toriyama's short-story collection gathers more of the playful, genre-hopping manga that made his work in Weekly Shōnen Jump such a treat in 1988. The cover says it all: a motley crew of Toriyama characters — a scowling kid in orange, a sunglasses-wearing old man at the wheel of a teal Suzuki jeep, a pink-haired girl with a red headband, and a couple of wide-eyed younger kids hanging on for the ride — radiating the same mischievous energy that runs through all his work. Toriyama's line art, both pencilled and inked by the man himself, is as expressive and full of personality here as anywhere in his catalog.
