Katsuhiro Otomo's landmark cyberpunk manga continues with this third volume, and the cover alone captures the series' breathless intensity perfectly. A young man levels a pistol in the foreground while two other figures scramble desperately atop military hardware — a massive tank looms behind them, its cannon cutting across a neon-lit urban skyline filled with Japanese signage and smoke. It's a snapshot of chaos in Neo-Tokyo that makes it very clear why Akira was turning heads in 1992.
