“Planet over California”

In "Planet over California," a mysterious figure known as Death arrives in the quiet town of Wasau, hunting a man from his past—only to mistake the local postmaster for his intended target. Just as the fatal strike is about to land, The Heap emerges, and Death realizes too late that he’s been chasing the wrong man all along. Penciled by Leonard Starr and Frank Bolle, with inks by both, and a cover by Dan Zolnerowich, this 1949 Hillman classic blends wartime ghosts with the strange, unsettling presence of a muck monster in a tale that lingers long after the final panel.
