Age of X-Man: The Amazing Nightcrawler #4

Part of Marvel's 2019 "Age of X-Man" event, this fourth issue of The Amazing Nightcrawler presents a charged moment straight from its cover: a wide-eyed, open-mouthed Nightcrawler gestures urgently toward a small blue-skinned child with pigtails, while a composed, red-haired Mystique looks on from behind — the tension between these three figures quietly electric. The cover art by Shane Davis and Michelle Delecki does an excellent job of grounding the series' superhero spectacle in something more personal and intimate. With writing by Seanan McGuire and interior art by Juan Frigeri and colorist Dono Sánchez-Almara, this issue promises the same blend of heart and high-stakes mutant drama the series has delivered throughout.
