Eric Shanower's meticulous retelling of the Trojan War continues with issue thirty-three, the fourteenth chapter of the "Betrayal" arc. The cover's elegant two-tone design places a woman's serene, moon-framed face above a crenellated cityscape, while a cloaked, winged-helmeted figure reaches upward beside a burning brazier — imagery that evokes myth, fate, and the weight of ancient conflict all at once. Shanower's restrained, classically inspired visual style makes this one of comics' most thoughtfully crafted historical epics, still going strong in 2013.
