After the Cape #2
The second issue of Image/Shadowline's After the Cape delivers one of the more quietly haunting superhero covers of 2007: a weary, shirtless man hunches over a bathroom sink, staring downward while his masked, costumed reflection gazes back from the medicine-cabinet mirror with an almost accusatory calm. The cool blue palette washing over the "real" figure against the warm amber glow of the costumed self makes the internal tension immediately legible — this is a story about identity, burnout, and the gap between who someone was and who they've become. If you're drawn to superhero comics that trade punching for introspection, this one makes a compelling case from its cover alone.
