Adventures of Superman #9
Something is definitely off about the Man of Steel on Dan Panosian's cover for this 2014 anthology installment — a gray-skinned, wide-grinning figure in Superman's costume stands triumphantly atop a crumbling chunk of rubble bearing the partially visible word "PLANET," cape billowing as he cheerfully declares "You're welcome." That unsettling smile and ashen complexion make it immediately clear this is Bizarro, DC's beloved backwards doppelgänger, striking a hero's pose with all the wrong intentions. Christos Gage and artist Eduardo Francisco bring us "Flowers for Bizarro," a story title that promises something both touching and delightfully strange from Adventures of Superman's rotating anthology format.
