Adventures into Terror #22

A wonderfully unsettling piece of early-1950s Atlas horror, this August 1953 issue features a Carl Burgos cover that grabs you immediately — a wide-eyed, terror-stricken figure lunges toward the reader, mouth agape and clawing fingers outstretched, with skeletal figures lurking among gravestones in the eerie background. The cover caption "I Can't Close My Eyes!" perfectly captures that frozen-in-fear feeling Burgos renders so effectively. Inside, Russ Heath contributes his artwork to "The Mad Beasts," one of several hair-raising tales packed into this ten-cent anthology of dread.
