Adeles ungewöhnliche Abenteuer #4
“Aufstand der Mumien”
Jacques Tardi's unmistakable linework brings a wonderfully eerie atmosphere to this 1991 Edition Moderne release, the fourth volume in *Adeles ungewöhnliche Abenteuer*. The cover plunges us straight into dread: a red, horned demonic creature dominates the foreground while a lantern-carrying figure in a wide-brimmed hat and cape looks on nervously, the pair surrounded by a wall of skulls that leaves little doubt about the title — "Aufstand der Mumien" (Revolt of the Mummies). With colors by Anne Delobel lending the scene its vivid, unsettling warmth, this is vintage Tardi — equal parts macabre mystery and Belle Époque adventure.
